Barry had a little snit,
His malice reached new lows,
And every time that Barry spoke,
A park was sure to close.
Brave men who fought at Normandy
Had flown across the land
To find, because of Barry's grudge,
Their monument was banned.
And so Obama turned them out,
But still they lingered near,
And broke right through the yellow tape.
No bully did they fear.
"Why do the folks loathe Barry so?"
The eager lapdogs cry.
"Why Barry loathes us all, you know."
The people did reply.

The Narrative
Wow, I can't help but be impressed at sheer political audacity of the Democratic party. The House has sent them three CR bills funding ALL of the government (including all of that wasteful spending from shrimp treadmills to Star Trek-themed training videos), except ObamaCare, which is the worst, and most unpopular, law ever enacted, and each bill has been flat-out rejected by Harry Reid's Senate. I see the Republican-led House compromising in all sorts of ways, bending over backwards to accommodate liberals, and yet, the Democrats are winning the narrative that it's the GOP shutting down the government.
A government shut-down is the LEAST of our worries right now. I think we can live without funding obesity studies for lesbians. The ObamaCare exchange debut was a disaster. Unfortunately, even if people are finding out just how expensive ACA-approved health care plans are, and turning against the law in even higher numbers, it's here now, and will be ever harder to remove. If anything, Dems will now start making new laws to "fix" ObamaCare, instead of undoing the incredible damage they are responsible for.

Don't Fund Obamacare
Sign This! http://www.dontfundobamacare.com/
Getting rid of Obamacare must be the No. 1 priority of any politician who cares for the future of the country. My personal prediction is that if this horrendous act is not defunded and repealed, employment numbers will never go up, health care and insurance costs will both continue to go up, doctors will leave their practices, and quality if care will decrease. There are so many more reasons that this is a bad law--which is why so many of the powerful and well-connected are being granted waivers.

It's just a deer
Giggles the deer
I know, of all the breaking news going on, why focus on poor little Giggles? Because this is yet another example how much government intrudes in our lives, and wastes time and resources micromanaging even the tiniest details. Apparently, it is against the law to save wild animals unless you have the right permit. Children need permits to run lemonade stands. People are prevented from building or improving on lots that they own. Ordinances tell some that they are not allowed to grow gardens in their front yards.

The old chicken and the egg question--which came first, the abandonment of individual responsibility and volunteer-ism, or the growth of government regulation and compulsory service?

"People!"
People who write speeches
For the greatest orator in the world
They’re children helping other children
To spin and cover, to lie and hide
All the pettiness inside
Acting more like children than children
Voyeurs
Are very special people
They spy on all the people in the world
For one person,
One very corrupt person
Who says to trust Big Brother
Or, “You’re going to have some problems here”
No more patriotic dissent
First you must trust in your government
People, people who use people
Are the ugliest people in the world.

original poem
‘Twas on my birthday, August the 9th,
President Nixon from his office resigned
But for the press, he could have escaped
Discovery of scandal, involving some tapes
Bill Ayers, Fast and Furious,
ObamaCare, Benghazi, and the IRS
But for the press, Obama could never have won
A second term, nor even one!

Boa Constrictor
In response to this article, and with apologies to Shel Silverstein...
Oh, I'm a target of Barack Obama,
Barack Obama,
Barack Obama.
I’ve been targeted by Barack Obama,
And I don’t like it
One bit.
Well, what do you know?
The IRS is at my door
What next?
Here comes the ATF
Oh my
Now it’s the FBI
Oh heck
OSHA’s come to inspect
Oh dear!
The death panel is upmmmmmmmmmmffffffffff . . .

Rubio's Political Suicide
This entry is about Rubio's attempts to reach Hispanic voters through amnesty. Now, I definitely think immigration laws need an overhaul, but who can trust the major players here? McCain? Graham? Schumer? If Rubio does, he shows himself to be naive. A country cannot have open immigration and be a welfare state at the same time.
My parody from the viewpoint of a disgruntled Tea Partier, and is set to contemporary
singer Matt Hires' “Restless Heart”
Pretty boys have many different faces
Your heritage is
Cuban
Backstabbers like
you are not hard to replace
You’re definitely
in Washington
We followed you at
the mid-term elections
And we helped you
defeat Charlie Crist
I wish I had seen
what was coming to us
For the Tea Party
you have dismissed
Hey you’re in the
gang of eight
Granting millions
of aliens amnesty
But you have made
a foolish mistake
You say votes are
all that you need
Well you're not
gonna get it from me
Oh-no, oh-no, no
you're not gonna get it from me
You say that you want
to reach out
That you can find
common ground with McCain
But even the most
optimistic of us
Can see that it's
all just a game
But while you are
looking for love
Looking for new
Republican voters
We tried it before
All we got were
Democrat donors
Hey you’re in the
gang of eight
Granting millions
of aliens amnesty
But you have made
a foolish mistake
You say votes are
all that you need
Well you're not
gonna get it from me
Oh-no, oh-no, no
you're not gonna get it from me
You’ve already
lost the Primaries
You’ve already
lost
You’ve already
lost the Primaries

Best of the Web on Kermit Gosnell
I am unable to express my feelings on this, they are so tender. I'll just quote the apostle Paul for now:
"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."

RIP Margaret Thatcher
Wall Street Journal
From The President, The Pope and the Prime Minister
Human Events article by John Hayward
The Grocer's Daughter by Sarah Palin
Margaret Thatcher and the Triumph of Conservatism by Jeffrey Lord
And on a different note, this is an article about another influential person from that time, CIA director Bill Casey. Make sure you click on the link in the article which sends you to Herb Meyer's speech. It is fascinating!
Lastly, on what seems to be a completely unrelated note, I started watching "Call the Midwife." It's based on the memoirs of a woman who was a midwife (hence the title) in East London in the late 1950's. It is very well done. But in the two episodes that I've seen, writers have inserted public service messages in the most awkward way. The scene goes something like this: a woman is about to die from pregnancy complications, and some doctor comes in and says, "It's a great thing that we have the NHS now, sending ambulances and providing life-saving treatments for these poor people!" Not only is the dialogue out of place (like the Subway advertisements in "Chuck"), it's laughable. Go to James Taranto's "Best of the Web," which he writes five days of the week for the WSJ, and you'll see countless examples of the great "progress" Britain's National Health Service has enjoyed. We're heading that direction ourselves under ObamaCare.
Sadly, one of Margaret Thatcher's few failures was her inability to dismantle the NHS. It was too entrenched by then. It illustrates the perils of passing unwieldy legislation to begin with--once it's there, it's nearly impossible to remove, no matter how terrible it is. That said, I pray for leaders here in the US who will continue to work for the repeal of Obamacare--my belief is that rather than losing elections, they will win by doing so. Margaret would have agreed. She said this of her own party's tendencies to "go wobbly": "I was utterly convinced of one thing: there was no chance of achieving that fundamental change of attitudes which was required to wrench Britain out of decline if people believed that we were prepared to alter course under pressure.”

Have You Got Skiing On Your Mind
This was inspired by the news that Sasha and Malia had come skiing in Sun Valley on the heels of their first Spring Break vacation to Bermuda, after their earlier ski trip to Aspen, after their other vacations in New York, Hawaii, Spain, South Africa, Botswana, just to name a few...
Original song: "Woman, Woman" by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap
Woman oh woman
Have you got skiing on your mind, on your mind
Before you were the First Lady
Your goals weren’t realized
And of your country you were ashamed
But now you’re in the White House
We know you’re not satisfied
Woman oh woman
Have you got skiing on your mind, on your mind
You’ve traveled all around the globe
You vacation all the time
From Hawaii to Botswana, South Africa and Spain
All the places you’ve ever dreamed
On the taxpayer’s dime
Woman oh woman
Have you got skiing on your mind, on your mind
Most of us must make ends meet
Big vacations we cannot do
And those who visited the White House found it closed
But Sasha and Malia
Got not one Spring Break, but two
Woman oh woman
Have you got skiing on your mind
Oh woman oh woman
Have you got skiing on your mind.....

Little Lies
Within months, Ariel/Julia/duped voters realize their mistake, and wish they had voted for Romney instead. Still, unable to take responsibility for their actions, and fearful of retribution in the form of drones, they sing this song (mostly) by Fleetwood Mac:
If I could turn
the page
In time then I'd
rearrange just a month or four
Close my, close
my, close my eyes
But I couldn't
find a way
So I'll settle for
a way to believe in four years more
Tell me, tell me, tell
me lies
(Chorus)
Tell me lies
Tell me sweet
little lies
(Tell me lies,
tell me, tell me lies)
Oh, no, no you
can't disguise
(You can't
disguise, no you can't disguise)
Tell me lies
Tell me sweet
little lies
You promised more
transparency
But your backroom
deals have doomed the economy
Close my, close my,
close my eyes
No more White
House Tours
But we’re better off just blaming the other
guys
Tell me, tell me,
tell me lies
(Chorus)
If I could turn
the page
In time then I'd
rearrange just a month or four
Close my, close
my, close my eyes
But I couldn't
find a way
So I'll settle for
a way to believe in four years more
Tell me, tell me,
tell me lies
(Chorus)
